To celebrate the release of James Kochalka’s newest all-ages book, JOHNNY BOO VOLUME 1: THE BEST LITTLE GHOST IN THE WORLD, I’ve teamed up with James to offer an exclusive signed bookplate with the first 40 copies sold here on the site. James has created an all new image for the print, and I just received them back signed and ready to ship! This is a very exciting offer for me, since it’s really the first promo I’ve been able to do with James (despite knowing him for the past 14 years or so). I remember, vividly, first contacting him to attend the 1995 Manchester, VT Spirits of Independence event A.C.E.; but he unfortunately had other plans that day, his marriage to his wife Amy. And so began a long relationship of always trying to organize or come up with something to do to promote his or other comics. But life, for both of us, always got in the way.

Amazingly enough, within the last year we were finally able to coordinate a time in which James could contribute three of the panels that make up the home page for Panel To Panel, and from there I was able to keep on him about doing a bookplate. Well, it finally worked. And here it is, the first James Kochalka/Panel To Panel bookplate (and hopefully not the last.)

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone, I’ve got a lot of exciting news this time around.

Shipping this week is Rick Veitch’s latest and greatest bookplate for Panel to Panel. Rick has outdone himself, this time, for his fourth P2P bookplate. An all-new full-color image that ships exclusively with all copies of HEARTBURST & OTHER PLEASURES (while supplies last). HEARTBURST features a remastered reprint of Rick’s Marvel Comics graphic novel, along with the original MIRROR OF LOVE (w/Alan Moore & Steve Bissette) and other newly remastered and never-before-collected stories.  Check out the bookplate image below, and click HERE to order a copy.

And finally, I’m sad to announce that Fantagraphics no longer has copies of Jaime Hernandez’s THE EDUCATION OF HOPEY GLASS; but I do still have a bunch of signed bookplates available.  So I’ll now be offering them free with copies of any of Jaime’s LOVE & ROCKETS collections!

Thanks as always for your continued support of Panel to Panel.  I hope to finally be able to keep these blog posts a bit more regular; but for now I’ve got to go put the finishing touches on the James Kochalka bookplate for his latest book, JOHNNY BOO VOLUME 1: THE BEST LITTLE GHOST IN THE WORLD.

That’s right folks, the ninth TMNT bookplate that I’ve produced with Mirage Studios is signed and ready to be sent to you! Here’s a look at the image, created by Jim Lawson, for this release.

This time around, the bookplate will include the signatures of Peter Laird, Jim Lawson, Steve Murphy and Dan Berger. And unlike previous TMNT bookplates in the past, this one will not be “tipped-in” to the books. Due to some customer requests, I’ve opted this time to simply bag the bookplate with the book. I’ve heard requests from people that they’d like the option to display these bookplates in other places than the books (like in a frame on their wall), and I’d like to encourage that. I think that many of the images created for the various Panel to Panel bookplates deserve to be framed and displayed for others to enjoy. And if you want the bookplate in your book, just get a glue stick and go to town! If I hear enough comments saying you, the customer, want your bookplates back in the books, I’ll happily change my mind. But for right now, the bookplates will no longer come attached to the books (unless the artist has specifically designed them to do so, as Rick Veitch has in the past with his bookplates).

In other bookplate news… In the coming weeks I’ll be posting images from all the bookplates from Panel to Panel’s past (in case you may have missed one). And I’ll have very exciting announcements about some upcoming bookplates too!
